A whole book could be written on the wonders & benefits of using coconut oil; it truly is a magical wonder of nature! You can search about the wonders & benefits of using coconut oil and literally find hundreds of uses. Incredible! Here I will share with you a few of my favorite uses of this Amazing oil I love so much!
Coconut Oil for Hair Treatment
Coconut oil is one of the best natural nutrition for hair. It helps in healthy growth of hair providing them a shiny complexion. It is effective in reducing the protein loss for damaged and undamaged hair.
For a deep conditioning treatment, massage a couple of tablespoons of the coconut oil into your clean, damp hair and scalp (if your hair is thinner, you may choose to skip the scalp as the oil could weigh your hair down). You may need more for long hair. Use more oil where your hair is the driest and most damaged (typically on the ends) and less where your hair is healthiest (mid-shaft and scalp area). I find that it’s best to section your hair off and apply the coconut oil in sections to be sure that every hair is coated properly. If your coconut oil is in a solid state, you will need to warm the oil gently to create a liquid. Allow the oil to sit on your hair for 20-30 minutes after application (for very dry or porous hair you can leave the oil on longer). To increase the effectiveness of the treatment, cover with a shower cap and wrap your hair in a hot towel (fresh from the dryer) or apply heat with a hair dryer for a few minutes. Because the oil is very heavy, you will need to shampoo the oil out of your hair after the treatment.
Coconut Oil Moisturizer
Coconut oil is amazing for the skin! It helps to reduce skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. It also softens the skin and relieves dryness and flaking. Applied topically it helps to prevent wrinkles, saggy skin and age spots.
Whipped coconut oil works wonderful as a moisturizer. It is easily applied and doesn’t harden when it’s cold.
Scoop 2 cups of coconut oil into mixing bowl. Break the coconut oil up into chunks. Using a mixer on high whip the coconut oil scraping down the sides of the bowl and continue to whip until all the coconut oil is soft and fluffy. Scoop coconut oil moisturizer into storage container. Use in place of lotion and body butter. Simple, easy and wonderful for your complexion and overall skin regimen.
Coconut Oil for Massage
When massage alone can do such a good for the body, then think what it can do if it is done with oil like coconut oil. If you study deeply, you will find that there is hardly any oil that can match the goodness of coconut oil, when it comes to massage.
Coconut oil relaxes muscles, relieves tension, and improves blood circulation. It makes the best massage oil primarily because of the healing and protecting properties of MCFAs.
MCFAs are anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-parasitic, etc. They are a quick source of nutrition for your cells. In fact, your heart prefers coconut oil’s MCFAs as a source of energy and readily uses it as fuel.
As they soothe your tired and sore muscles, coconut oil’s MCFAs improve the appearance and health of your skin. After doing their job topically, these rare fatty acids penetrate through your skin pores and eventually end up in your bloodstream for yet another round of even greater health-promoting activities.
So there you go, my 3 favorite ways of using the wonders and benefits of coconut oil for conditioning my hair, rejuvenating my skin and relaxing and healing my body! Plus, it just smells so good!!
